3.1. Copying Files
Please copy files to your environment as follows.
for Windows:
- Check for your windows system folder (C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM for Windows 98/ME, C:\WINDOWS\system32 for Windows XP, C:WINNT\system32 for Windows 2000) and search msvcr70.dll. You can browse the folder with explorer, or use explorer's search button or any other way you like.
- If not found, copy msvcr70.dll (bundled with the product puckage) to the system folder (do nothing if you found one).
- Copy Exciton2.dll to your host application's plugin folder.
About msvcr70.dll (Windows)
Exciton requires Microsoft shared library msvcr70.dll. It is bundled in the newest version of Windows and other recently released applications. But it might not have been installed in your Windows system yet.
You should not erase msvcr70.dll even if you want to uninstall Exciton. msvcr70.dll is a common public shared library. Number of other softwares are probably sharing this file.
About Plugin Folders (Windows)
Plugin folders depend on host applications. For example, Steinberg Cubase SX/SL and Emagic Logic have Vstplugins folder in the host application folder. You can copy Exciton2.dll to Vstplugins folder to install a plugin. If you have two or more VST host softwares and each hosts have Vstplugins folders, you can copy Exciton2.dll to the every of them.
Some other VST host applications (FLstudio, etc.) use a different way. They do not have a default "VST plugins" folder. On the other hand, you can specify your "VST plugins" folder and scan plugins. You can place VST plugins anywhere you like on your PC. It is a useful way when you uses multiple VST hosts.
On Windows, host applications are using defferent methods to install VST plugins. Please refer to the manual of your host application for its detail.
for Macintosh:
- Check if a host application (typically Cubase or Logic) is running. If it is running, quit it.
- Copy Exciton2 plugin file to Vstplugins folder of the host application.
3.2. Activating a instrument on a host application
After coping files, you activate Excton on your VST host application.
Methods for activating a VSTinstrument are different among host applications. Please refer to the monual of your host application for its detail.
Example: Steinberg Cubase SX
The following is an example for Steinberg Cubase SX on Windows.
(1) Run Cubase SX.
(2) Press F11 (or select "Devices - VST Instruments" from the menu). "VST Instruments" window appears.

(3) Click on "No VST Instrument" and select Exciton2 from the popup menu.

(4) Click on e button to activate Exciton instrument panel.

for Exciton Version 1 users
Exciton version 2 (Exciton2) is identified as a different instrument to version 1 (Exciton). You can use both versions on the same host environment. However, we always recommend for you to use version 2. Version 2 can read version 1 program/bank files and recall the identical sounds. If you have your own sound programs made with version 1, you can save programs with version 1 and load them with version 2.
3.3. Registering Your User Information
When you activate the instrument first time, all sound functions are disabled. Please register your user information and enable the instrument as follows.
To register your copy (common for Windows/Macintosh):
(1) Type in your username on the program name input box (replace "(enter username here)") and press Enter.

(2) Type in your keyword on the program name input box (replace "(enter keyword here)") and press Enter.

(3) "Registration Complete" is shown on the information display.

After the registration, your user information is stored to the operation system. The information is common for the installed PC. If you have multiple host applications, you have to registrate only once.
If you update or reinstall the operation system, the stored user information is sometimes invalidated. In this case, please register your user information again.
